Welcome to Arar Chair
I am delighted to extend the warmest welcome to you as you visit the Arar Chair website, which reflects one of the most important beacons of literature, thought, and culture in Jordan.
The name carries its literary, cultural, and intellectual significance on multiple levels, making it a literary and cultural beacon that represents the creative consciousness of humanity carrying torches of light and knowledge.
Thus, "Arar" as an umbrella means a great deal in relation to the literary and cultural movement in Jordan, which the Chair aspires to serve and interact with.
Having a chair named after the great Jordanian poet (Arar) means paying attention to landmarks in the journey of the literary and cultural movement in Jordan. And its presence at Yarmouk University indicates the continuation of its pioneering and enlightening role in strengthening the close connection between the university and society.
When the Arar Chair was established at Yarmouk University, its primary purpose was to dedicate studies to Arar and publish his important documents, due to their contribution in showing an aspect of culture and literature in Jordan during the time period in which he lived.
Chair's Achievements and Aspirations
The Chair has organized a series of important seminars related to poets and writers who achieved fame beyond the borders of the homeland. The Chair looks forward to continuing to hold such seminars that embodied cultural celebrations, with which participants interacted with an eager audience thirsty for the pleasure of discovery and the wonder of the unfamiliar. Hence, the Chair will hold a series of seminars each semester under the title "The Writer's Day in Jordan" or "Literary Beacons" to celebrate towering literary figures.
The Chair looks forward to the day when the construction of an electronic database containing the literary and critical achievements in Jordan is completed, making it available material for researchers and students of literature in Jordan. The first steps have begun to implement this major national project, which is a dream consistent with Yarmouk University's participatory and interactive policy with the literary and cultural environment across the entire nation, in line with the vision of His Majesty King Abdullah II bin Al-Hussein, may God protect and preserve him.
